JOHN NIEMAN : VOCALS / PERCUSSION

John Nieman has been playing drums and other instruments since the mid 1970’s. Being visually disabled and unable to read music he learned by ear. Starting on a snare drum and some rock records he tried to find the groove. He started playing in college with the band “The Imposters.” Since then his playing has taken on a more jazz, funk feel. His drumming influences stretch from John Bonham to Gene Krupa.

Sometime in the late 1980’s he picked up a guitar. Some friends showed him some chords and a decade later he’s playing guitar with fellow dogs Tom and Matt in their other band “Pumpkin Head Ted.” He still plays with some old college buddies in New Bedford’s one and only “Rasta Band.” The Dancing Dogs is still his main band, enabling him to explore his eclectic musical sense on the drums.
