JOSEPH RAPOZA : TRUMPET / KEYBOARD / PERCUSSION / VOCALS

Joseph Rapoza, a native southcoast New Englander, grew up with a love of art and music, studying trumpet under Joe Ribeiro. He also thrived under Bobby Greene’s tutelage of jazz improvisation and theory. Joe toured with the Newport Navy Show Band for four years after graduating from Westfield State College with a degree in theory/composition and the Navy School of Music where he studied performance. 

He is an accomplished trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, and valve trombone player. He also performs Latin percussion, Irish bodhran, accordion, and keyboard in many styles including jazz, funk, Latin, Celtic, reggae, and classical. A trained and experienced vocalist, he has sung lead tenor and back up vocals in all styles including rock, blues, jazz, and for his own compositions. Joe has served as a professional musician with many ensembles including his band, “The Dancing Dogs” and the New Bedford Jazz Ensemble. Additionally, he records and teaches regionally.
