TOM SHORT : SAXOPHONE / FLUTE / VOCALS

Tom Short grew up in Flint, Michigan where he began taking piano lessons at age six and continued studying piano through his early teens. He later studied clarinet leading him to the saxophone and flute, which became his primary instruments.

After graduating from high school, Tom joined the Navy. Upon leaving the Navy in 1975 he formed his first rock band and began his journey as a professional musician working as a flutist and vocalist with a number of performing ensembles throughout major cities in Michigan until 1988. Tom’s higher education and training in music includes studies at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan and receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan Flint with a double major in classical performance [Flute.] and history. 

om has since been very active as a performing and recording artist working with many notable musicians and performing ensembles in the New England area including “Stormin’ Norman and the Hurricanes,” “Rhyme and Reason,” and presently “The Dancing Dogs” and “Pumpkin Head Ted.”
